Overwatch Celebrates Second Birthday with New Map and Free Weekend

By

It might not seem like it, but Overwatch has been around for two years as of this month. Despite celebrating its second birthday, the game is as popular as ever and doing very well for Blizzard. To celebrate the anniversary, Overwatch gamers are getting a new map and people still on the fence about trying the game will get a free weekend to try Overwatch out.

May 22 marks the start of the celebration with a new deathmatch map landing then called Petra. Deathmatch will also be playable in competitive mode as Escort and Control maps are that launched with the game. Blizzard is promising over 50 additional items for the celebration.

Other items include eight new Legendary skins and new dances for Doomfist, Moira, and Brigitte. Some seasonal items for the first-anniversary event will make a comeback as well. Seasonal brawls from past events will return. If you log into Overwatch during the event you will get a special Legendary Anniversary loot box along with items that were only available as seasonal loot before.

The free play weekend starts May 25 and runs through the 28th on PC, Xbox, and PS4. The best part for Xbox and PS4 gamers is that you won’t need Xbox Live Gold or PlayStation Plus to play. However, you won’t be able to join in Competitive play without buying the game reports Digital Trends.
