Red Dead Redemption 2 has One Player Character

One of the things that lots of Rockstar fans liked about GTA V was the ability to change at will into the shoes of one of the three main characters in the game. That feature proved very popular and its popularity had some wondering if Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2) would have a similar feature. The short answer is no.

RDR2 art director Josh Bass has stated that the game will focus entirely on Arthur Morgan. Bass noted in an interview with Hollywood Reporter that the game will focus entirely on a single character because that “felt more appropriate” for the game.

Bass did note that the being in a gang feel of RDR2 is something the team has never done before. He thinks that players will love that mechanic reports Comicbook.

“Arthur lives with and fights alongside the other members of the Van der Linde gang, and they are a group of fully realized characters with relationships to each other and to Arthur, but this is Arthurs story and we are placing players firmly in Arthurs boots as he and the gang deal with a rapidly changing world.,” said Bass. “We think people will really love the feeling of being in the gang. It isnt like anything weve done before.”
